Car
If you are driving, set your GPS to '3 Chome-1-51 Sumiyoshi, Hakata Ward, Fukuoka, 812-0018'. Start from Chikuzen and take Route 3 towards Fukuoka City. After about 30 minutes, merge onto the Fukuoka Expressway. Continue for about 10 minutes and take the exit towards Hakata. Follow the signs for Hakata Ward and then look for signs for Sumiyoshi Jinja. There is limited parking available nearby, so plan accordingly.
Public Transport
To reach Sumiyoshi Jinja by public transport, head to the nearest train station in Chikuzen, which is Chikuzen-Tachiarai Station. Take the train on the Kashii Line towards Fukuoka. Get off at Hakata Station. From Hakata Station, transfer to the Kuko Line and take a train towards Nakasu-Kawabata. Get off at Sumiyoshi Station. From there, it's about a 10-minute walk. Exit the station and head north on Sumiyoshi Street; you will see the shrine ahead.
