Getting There

  • Car

    From Chikuzen, take Route 200 south towards Itoshima. After approximately 30 minutes, merge onto Route 1 towards Fukuoka. Continue on Route 1 for about 15 minutes, then take the exit toward Itoshima. Follow signs for Itoshima and continue driving for about 10 minutes until you reach Shimakeya. The entrance to Totoro Forest will be on your left. Parking is available, but be aware that there may be a small parking fee.

  • Train and Bus

    Start by taking the Nishitetsu Tenjin Omuta Line from Chikuzen to Fukuoka. The train ride takes around 25 minutes. Once in Fukuoka, transfer to the Nishitetsu Bus bound for Itoshima (Bus No. 100). The bus ride takes approximately 40 minutes. You will need to get off at the Shimakeya stop. From there, it’s a short walk of about 10 minutes to Totoro Forest. Be sure to check the bus schedule in advance as service may be limited.

  • Taxi

    If you prefer a more direct route, consider taking a taxi from Chikuzen to Itoshima's Totoro Forest. The journey will take about 45 minutes. Make sure to inform the driver of your destination by providing the address: 'Shimakeya, Itoshima, Fukuoka 819-1335'. Expect the fare to be around 5,000 to 7,000 yen, depending on traffic conditions.
