Public Transportation

For those using public transport, start at Zao Onsen Station. Take a local bus bound for Zao Onsen Ski Resort. The bus ride takes about 15 minutes and costs around ¥500. Once you arrive at the Zao Onsen Ski Resort, look for the Zao Ropeway station. Purchase your ticket for the ropeway, which will take you up to the summit of Mount Zaō. The round trip for the ropeway costs approximately ¥2,600.

Walking

If you prefer to hike, from the Zao Onsen area, you can start your trek towards Mount Zaō. Follow the well-marked trails leading to the mountain.
