Getting There

    If you're driving from Zao Onsen, take Route 13 north towards Zao Onsen Ski Resort. Continue following the signs for Zao Onsen and Mount Zaō. The road will lead you to the Zao Ropeway parking area. Parking is available here, and it typically costs around ¥500 per day. From the parking lot, you can take the Zao Ropeway to the mountain's summit, which costs approximately ¥2,600 for a round trip.

  • Public Transportation

    For those using public transport, start at Zao Onsen Station. Take a local bus bound for Zao Onsen Ski Resort. The bus ride takes about 15 minutes and costs around ¥500. Once you arrive at the Zao Onsen Ski Resort, look for the Zao Ropeway station. Purchase your ticket for the ropeway, which will take you up to the summit of Mount Zaō. The round trip for the ropeway costs approximately ¥2,600.

  • Walking
