Walking
From JR Matsumoto Station, the castle is approximately a 15-minute walk. Exit the station via the main exit and follow the signs towards Matsumoto Castle. The route will take you past the shopping streets of Nakamachi and Nawate-Dori. No costs are associated with walking.
Public Transport
From JR Matsumoto Station, take the 'Town Sneaker' bus (Northern Course). The bus ride takes about 5 minutes. The fare is around ¥200. The bus stop is located near the station's main exit.
Taxi
Taxis are readily available at JR Matsumoto Station. A taxi ride to Matsumoto Castle takes approximately 5-10 minutes, depending on traffic. The estimated fare is ¥800-¥1200.
Driving
If driving, take the Nagano Expressway to the Matsumoto Exit, then follow the signs to Matsumoto Castle. Several parking lots are available near the castle, including the Municipal Matsumoto Castle Gate Parking Area and the Municipal Kaichi Parking Area. Parking costs approximately ¥150-¥200 per 30 minutes. Be aware that parking can be limited during peak season.
