Getting There

  • Car

    If you're driving from central Etchu, take Route 8 heading northeast. Continue on Route 8 for approximately 30 kilometers. You will then merge onto the Joshin-etsu Expressway. Take exit 40 towards Nagano, and follow the signs to Zenkōji Temple. The temple is located at 491-I Motoyoshicho, Nagano. There is parking available near the temple, but expect a fee of around 500 yen for parking.

  • Public Transportation

    From Etchu Station, take the JR Shinano Line train towards Nagano. The train ride will take about 50 minutes. Get off at Nagano Station. From Nagano Station, exit the building and find the 'Zenkoji' bus stop located outside the station. Take the Alpico bus bound for Zenkōji Temple (the fare is approximately 220 yen). The bus ride will take about 15 minutes. The bus will drop you off at the temple entrance.

    Once you arrive at the Zenkōji bus stop, you can simply follow the signs guiding you to Zenkōji Temple, which is a short 5-minute walk from the bus stop.
