Getting There

  • Walk

    If you are staying in the Hakata area, you can easily walk to Sumiyoshi Jinja. Start from Hakata Station, exit the station and head south towards the main road, Chuo-dori. Walk straight for about 10-15 minutes until you reach the intersection with Sumiyoshi Dori. Turn left onto Sumiyoshi Dori and continue walking for another 5 minutes. Sumiyoshi Jinja will be on your right at 3 Chome-1-51 Sumiyoshi, Hakata Ward.

  • Subway

    From Hakata Station, take the Kuko Line (Airport Line) towards Meinohama. Get off at the next stop, Nakasu-Kawabata (it’s only one stop away). Transfer to the Hakozaki Line and take the train towards Hakozaki-Kyumae. After 3 stops, get off at Sumiyoshi Station. Upon exiting the station, turn left and walk for approximately 10 minutes straight on Sumiyoshi Dori, and you will arrive at Sumiyoshi Jinja.

  • Bus

    From Hakata Station, take the Nishitetsu Bus #100 or #200 from the bus terminal located directly outside the station. The bus fare is around 210 yen (approximately). Ride for about 10-15 minutes and get off at Sumiyoshi Jinja Mae bus stop. The shrine entrance is a short walk away from the bus stop.
