If you are traveling by car from Hida, head south on Route 158 towards Matsumoto. Continue on this road for approximately 40 kilometers (about 50 minutes) until you reach the Kamikochi entrance. There is a parking lot available at the entrance, but note that parking may incur a fee, typically around ¥1,000 per day. From the parking area, you will need to take a bus to the Kamikochi Information Center, which costs approximately ¥2,000 one way.

Public Transportation (Train and Bus)
To reach Kamikochi using public transportation, start by taking a train from Hida to Matsumoto Station. The journey takes about 1 hour. Once at Matsumoto Station, transfer to the Alpico Kotsu bus service towards Kamikochi. The bus ride takes approximately 1 hour and costs around ¥2,500. The bus will take you to the Kamikochi bus terminal, which is just a short walk from the Kamikochi Information Center.

If you prefer a more direct route, you can take a taxi from Hida to the Kamikochi entrance. This option is more expensive, typically costing around ¥10,000 to ¥15,000 depending on traffic and exact pickup location. Upon arrival at the Kamikochi entrance, you will still need to take a bus to the Kamikochi Information Center.
