Getting There

  • Car

    From central Hida, head north on Route 158. Continue for about 45 kilometers until you reach the Matsumoto area. As you approach Matsumoto, look for signs directing you to Kamikochi. Follow the signs to Azumi and take a right onto Route 447. Continue for approximately 10 kilometers, and you will see the Kamikochi Visitor Center at 4468 Azumi on your left.

  • Public Transportation

    From Hida, take a train to Matsumoto Station. The journey takes about 30 minutes. Once at Matsumoto Station, transfer to the Alpico Kotsu bus service headed towards Kamikochi. The bus ride will take approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. Get off at the Kamikochi Visitor Center stop, which is well-marked. The visitor center is located at 4468 Azumi, just a short walk from the bus stop.
