Getting There

  • Car

    If you are driving from Hida, take Route 158 towards Matsumoto. After approximately 1 hour, you will arrive at the Hirayu Onsen area. Here, you will need to park your vehicle at the designated parking area (Hirayu Onsen Parking Lot) which incurs a fee of about 1,000 yen for a full day. From the parking lot, board the Kamikochi Shuttle Bus that operates frequently (about every 30 minutes). The bus ride takes around 30-40 minutes, and you will disembark at the Kamikochi Bus Terminal. From there, it is a short walk to the Kamikochi Visitor Center, located at 4468 Azumi, Matsumoto, Nagano 390-1516.

    To reach the Kamikochi Visitor Center using public transportation, start by taking a train from Hida to Matsumoto Station. The journey takes about 1 hour and costs approximately 1,500 yen. Upon arrival at Matsumoto Station, transfer to the Nohi Bus service to Hirayu Onsen. The bus ride takes about 30 minutes and costs about 1,000 yen. Once you arrive at Hirayu Onsen, you will need to catch the Kamikochi Shuttle Bus, which operates every 30 minutes, for a 30-40 minute ride to the Kamikochi Bus Terminal. From the terminal, it's a short walk to the Kamikochi Visitor Center.
