Car
If you're driving from central Hitachi, head south on Route 6 (also known as the Joban Expressway) towards Mito. Continue for about 60 kilometers until you reach the intersection with Route 4. Merge onto Route 4 and follow the signs towards Tokyo. After approximately 80 kilometers, take the exit toward Setagaya City. Once on local roads, keep following signs for Setagaya and specifically for Kitakarasuyama. The temple is located at 4 Chome-30-1 Kitakarasuyama in Setagaya City. Look for parking options nearby as street parking can be limited.
Public Transportation
To reach Kōgen-in by public transport from Hitachi, first take the JR Joban Line from Hitachi Station towards Ueno. You will need to transfer at Ueno Station to the Tokyo Metro Chiyoda Line. Take the Chiyoda Line towards Yoyogi Uehara and get off at the Kitakarasuyama Station. From the station, it is about a 10-minute walk to Kōgen-in. Exit the station and head southwest on Kitakarasuyama Street. Follow the street for about 800 meters, and you will see Kōgen-in on your left at 4 Chome-30-1.
