Car
If you are driving from Sapporo, take the Hokkaido Expressway (道央自動車道) towards Asahikawa. After approximately 90 minutes, take the exit for Nakafurano (中富良野) and follow the signs towards Nakafurano Forest Park. The park is located about 15 minutes from the expressway exit. Make sure to have some yen on hand for the expressway tolls, which are approximately 1,500 yen.
Public Transportation (Train and Bus)
Start by taking a train from Sapporo Station to Kamifurano Station on the Furano Line. This journey takes about 2 hours. From Kamifurano Station, board a local bus (approximately every 1-2 hours) heading towards Nakafurano. The bus ride will take around 20 minutes. Make sure to check the bus schedule ahead of time for the latest timings. The bus fare will be around 500 yen.
Car Rental
If you prefer flexibility, consider renting a car from Sapporo. Major car rental companies are available at New Chitose Airport or downtown Sapporo. After renting, follow the same driving instructions as mentioned above. Rental prices vary, but expect to pay around 5,000 to 10,000 yen per day, excluding fuel.
Taxi
For a more direct but costly option, you can take a taxi from Kamifurano Station to Nakafurano Forest Park. The taxi ride will take around 15 minutes and cost approximately 3,000 to 5,000 yen depending on traffic.
