Car
From Sapporo, take the Hokkaido Expressway (道央自動車道). Follow signs for Hakodate and exit at Matsumae IC. Drive for approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes to reach Matsumae Park, which is located at Matsushiro, Matsumae, Matsumae District, Hokkaido 049-1511. There is a parking lot nearby with a small fee, around 500 yen for parking.
Train and Bus
If traveling from Sapporo by public transportation, take the JR Hokkaido train from Sapporo Station to Hakodate Station (approximately 4 hours). From Hakodate Station, take the bus bound for Matsumae. The bus ride will take about 1 hour and will drop you off near Matsumae Park. The bus fare is approximately 1,000 yen.
Local Bus
If you are already in Hakodate, you can take a local bus from Hakodate Station to Matsumae. The bus departs regularly throughout the day and takes about 1 hour. Ensure to check the schedule as it may vary by season. The fare is around 1,000 yen.
Taxi
For a more direct route, you can take a taxi from Hakodate to Matsumae Park. The taxi ride will take approximately 1 hour and cost around 8,000 to 10,000 yen, depending on traffic.
