Discover more about Ningle Terrace

Ningle Terrace is a unique and enchanting destination located in Furano, Hokkaido. The terrace is adjacent to the New Furano Prince Hotel. The name 'Ningle' comes from a character created by scriptwriter So Kuramoto, referring to a 15cm tall 'forest wisdom keeper' believed by the Ainu people to live in Hokkaido's forests. The terrace consists of 15 log cabins, each housing a shop selling original, locally made handicrafts. These crafts include woodwork, glassware, ceramics, textiles, and leather goods. The shops are connected by a walking path, inviting visitors to stroll through the mystical forest while shopping. The village is designed to resemble Ningle's workshop, creating a fairytale-like atmosphere. Ningle Terrace is particularly beautiful in the evening when the cottages and pathways are illuminated, creating a romantic and magical ambiance. Visitors can also enjoy a cafe, waterfall, and forest boardwalk. Craft experiences are available, allowing visitors to create their own unique souvenirs. Ningle Terrace was also featured in the 1980s TV drama series 'Kita No Kuni Kara' (From the Northern Country).
