Car
If you are driving from Iki, take the ferry from Iki to the mainland (approximately 30 minutes). Once you reach the mainland, follow signs for the highway and take the Route 9 towards Nagasaki. After about 1 hour, merge onto the Nagasaki Expressway towards Kumamoto and then continue on Route 3 towards Matsumoto. Follow the signs for the Agatsuma District towards Kusatsu Onsen. The trip from the ferry port to Kusatsu Onsen Netsunoyu will take around 5 to 6 hours total.

Public Transportation
First, take a ferry from Iki to the main island (around 30 minutes). Upon arrival, head to the nearest train station, usually in Fukuoka. From the train station, take the JR Shinkansen (bullet train) towards Tokyo and transfer at Takasaki Station. From Takasaki, take the JR Agatsuma Line to Naganohara-Kusatsuguchi Station. This journey will take approximately 4 to 5 hours in total. Once at Naganohara-Kusatsuguchi Station, you can take a local bus that will take you directly to Kusatsu Onsen. The bus ride will take about 30 minutes.
