Car
If you are traveling by car from Iki to Himeji Castle, start by taking the ferry from Iki to the mainland (Kumamoto or Fukuoka). The ferry ride typically takes about 1.5 to 2 hours. Once you arrive at the mainland, drive towards the Sanyo Expressway. Follow the signs to Himeji, which is approximately a 2-hour drive from the ferry terminal. When you arrive in Himeji, look for signs directing you to Himeji Castle, located at 68 Honmachi, Himeji, Hyogo 670-0012. There are parking options available near the castle, but be aware that parking fees may apply.
Public Transportation
To reach Himeji Castle using public transportation, first take a ferry from Iki to the mainland (Kumamoto or Fukuoka). Once you arrive at the mainland, head to the nearest train station and take the train to Himeji Station. The train journey will take about 2 to 2.5 hours, depending on connections. From Himeji Station, it is a 15-20 minute walk to Himeji Castle. You can also take a local bus from Himeji Station to the castle if you prefer not to walk. The bus fare is approximately 210 yen.
