Discover more about Rainbow Bridge

Rainbow Bridge, officially named the Tokyo Bay Connector Bridge, is a double-decker suspension bridge that stretches 798 meters across Tokyo Bay. Connecting Shibaura Pier with Odaiba, it has become a symbol of Tokyo, offering access to the popular entertainment island and breathtaking views. Construction, undertaken by Kawasaki Heavy Industries, began in 1987 and concluded in 1993. The bridge's design had to accommodate both the passage of large ships and the proximity to Haneda Airport. The towers, painted white to complement Tokyo's skyline, support a structure that carries an expressway, a local road, the Yurikamome Line, and pedestrian walkways. At night, the Rainbow Bridge lives up to its name with a beautiful illumination. Solar-powered lights illuminate the supporting cables in varying colors, with special displays during holidays and events. The main towers are typically lit in cool white during summer and warm white during winter. Walking across the bridge provides unique perspectives of Tokyo Tower, Tokyo Skytree, and even Mount Fuji on clear days. The bridge is more than just a means of transportation; it's a destination in itself.
