Inasa Beach, located west of Izumo Taisha Grand Shrine, is more than just a scenic spot; it's a place where mythology, history, and natural beauty converge. Selected as one of Japan's top 100 beaches, its white sands and green pine trees create an appealing vista.According to ancient texts like the Kojiki, Inasa Beach is where the deities (kami) arrive from across Japan during the Kamiari Festival in October (lunar calendar). This is when gods gather in Izumo for a divine meeting. The beach is also tied to the legend of Okuninushi, the deity of matchmaking. Every month, on the first day, local people collect water from the ocean and visit the shrines on the way to Izumo Taisha with the water.A prominent feature is Bentenjima, a small rocky islet topped with a torii gate and a shrine dedicated to Toyotamahiko, the guardian deity of the seas. The sunset view behind Bentenjima is particularly stunning, making it a symbol of Izumo and registered as a Japan Heritage site.
