Beniya Mukayu, meaning "richness in emptiness," is more than just a place to stay; it's an experience designed to cleanse the mind and body. Perched on Yakushiyama hill overlooking Yamashiro Onsen, this ryokan has been a haven for reflection and healing for over a thousand years. Founded in 1928, Beniya Mukayu is now run by the third generation of the Nakamichi family.The architecture and minimalist interior design seamlessly blend the natural world with indoor spaces. Each of the 17 rooms boasts a private open-air hot spring bath (onsen), offering a secluded space to soak in the therapeutic waters. The ryokan also features communal baths, Gensei and Usuko, which opened in November 2023.Guests can indulge in a multi-course kaiseki dinner, a traditional Japanese haute cuisine experience, featuring local, seasonal ingredients. The ryokan also offers a range of unique experiences, including tea ceremonies, spa treatments, and opportunities to engage with local artists and artisans.     Public Transport

    From Kaga Onsen Station, take a bus bound for Yamanaka Onsen. The one-way fare is approximately ¥250, and buses depart 1-2 times per hour. Alternatively, the CAN Bus Yamamawari Route also serves Yamashiro Onsen from Kaga Onsen Station; a one-time ticket on the CANBUS costs ¥500. Beniya Mukayu is a short walk from the Yamashiro Onsen bus stop.

    Taxis are readily available at Kaga Onsen Station. A taxi ride to Beniya Mukayu takes approximately 15 minutes and costs between ¥1,900 and ¥2,300. Ishikawa Sogo Taxi and Kaga Daiichi Kotsu are two taxi companies in the Kaga area.
