Discover more about Beniya Mukayu

Beniya Mukayu, meaning "richness in emptiness," is more than just a place to stay; it's an experience designed to cleanse the mind and body. Perched on Yakushiyama hill overlooking Yamashiro Onsen, this ryokan has been a haven for reflection and healing for over a thousand years. Founded in 1928, Beniya Mukayu is now run by the third generation of the Nakamichi family. The architecture and minimalist interior design seamlessly blend the natural world with indoor spaces. Each of the 17 rooms boasts a private open-air hot spring bath (onsen), offering a secluded space to soak in the therapeutic waters. The ryokan also features communal baths, Gensei and Usuko, which opened in November 2023. Guests can indulge in a multi-course kaiseki dinner, a traditional Japanese haute cuisine experience, featuring local, seasonal ingredients. The ryokan also offers a range of unique experiences, including tea ceremonies, spa treatments, and opportunities to engage with local artists and artisans. Beniya Mukayu serves as an ideal base for exploring the cultural attractions of the Hokuriku region, with easy access to Kanazawa, Shirakawa-go, and other notable destinations.
