Car
If you are driving, start your journey from the nearest major city, Shingu. From Shingu, take Route 42 south towards Kumanogawacho. After approximately 30 minutes, you will see signs for Doro Kyo Gorge. Turn onto Route 311 and follow the signs for about 10 minutes until you reach the parking area near Doro Kyo Gorge. Note that parking may incur a fee, usually around 500 yen.

Public Transportation - Train and Bus
From Shingu Station, take the JR Kisei Line train towards Nara. Get off at Kumanogawacho Station, which is about a 20-minute ride. From Kumanogawacho Station, you can take a local bus towards Doro Kyo Gorge. The bus ride takes approximately 15-20 minutes. Make sure to check the bus schedule ahead of time, as service may be limited. The bus fare is typically around 500 yen.

Walking
If you are already in the Kumano Kodo area, you can also hike to Doro Kyo Gorge on foot. Look for the Kumano Kodo trail markers that lead towards the gorge. The hike takes around 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on your pace. Bring plenty of water and wear appropriate hiking shoes, as some parts of the trail can be steep and rugged. The scenic views along the way are well worth the effort.
