Getting There

Bus
From Nara Station, board the Kintetsu Nara Line train heading towards Kyoto. Get off at the Tofuku-ji Station. From Tofuku-ji Station, walk to the bus stop and take bus number 205 or 206 towards Kitayama. Get off at the Murasakino Minamifunaokacho stop. Funaoka Onsen is a short walk from there. Head north on Murasakino Minamifunaokacho until you reach 82-1, where the onsen is located.

Train and Walk
Take the Kintetsu Nara Line from Nara Station to Kiyomizu-Gojo Station in Kyoto. From Kiyomizu-Gojo Station, transfer to the Kyoto City Bus and take bus number 100 towards Kitayama. Get off at the Murasakino Minamifunaokacho stop. Walk north along Murasakino Minamifunaokacho until you reach Funaoka Onsen at 82-1.

If you prefer a more direct and comfortable option, you can take a taxi from Nara. Simply tell the driver to take you to Funaoka Onsen at 82-1 Murasakino Minamifunaokacho, Kita Ward, Kyoto. The journey will take approximately 45 minutes, depending on traffic.

If you are starting from central Nara and feel adventurous, you can walk to Funaoka Onsen. The distance is about 40 kilometers, so it's a long trek. Head towards the Kintetsu Nara Station and follow the route to Kyoto, passing through Nara Park and heading towards the north. This method is quite strenuous and is recommended only for experienced hikers.
