    Getting There

    Train

    From Kyoto Station, take the JR Nara Line (rapid service) towards Nara. The journey takes approximately 45 minutes. Get off at the Horyuji Station. From Horyuji Station, exit the station and turn left. Walk straight for about 10 minutes until you reach Horyu-ji Temple, located at 1-1 Horyuji Sannai, Ikaruga, Ikoma District, Nara.

    Bus

    From Kyoto Station, take the Kintetsu Bus bound for Horyuji. The bus ride takes about 1 hour. Get off at Horyuji bus stop. From the bus stop, it's a short 5-minute walk to Horyu-ji Temple, located at 1-1 Horyuji Sannai, Ikaruga, Ikoma District, Nara.

    Bicycle

    If you prefer to cycle, you can rent a bicycle from Kyoto. Head east towards the Kamo River and follow the river north until you reach the banks of Lake Biwa. From there, follow the signs towards Nara. It’s approximately a 30 km ride, so plan for a leisurely ride with stops along the way. Once you arrive in Ikaruga, follow the signs to Horyu-ji Temple, located at 1-1 Horyuji Sannai.
