Getting There

  • Public Transportation

    From Kyoto Station, take the Kintetsu Kyoto Line to Toji Station. The train ride takes approximately 5 minutes. Once you arrive at Toji Station, exit the station and turn left. Walk straight for about 10 minutes until you reach Tōji Temple, which is located at 1 Kujocho, Minami Ward. You'll see the iconic five-story pagoda of the temple as you approach.

  • Public Bus

    From Kyoto Station, take Bus number 206 or 208 towards Kujo Kintetsu. The bus ride will take around 15 minutes. Get off at the Kujo Station (九条駅) bus stop. From there, it’s a 5-minute walk to Tōji Temple. Head east on Kujo Street, then turn left onto the road leading to the temple, where you'll see the five-story pagoda.

  • Walking

    If you are near Kyoto Station, you can also walk to Tōji Temple. Exit Kyoto Station and head south towards the main road. Walk along the main road (Karasuma-dori) for about 20 minutes. Turn left onto Kujo Street, and continue straight until you reach Tōji Temple. The temple is located at 1 Kujocho, Minami Ward, marked by its striking five-story pagoda.
