Getting There

  • Car

    If you're driving from Nara city center, head north on Route 369. Continue straight for about 30 minutes until you reach the junction with Route 162. Turn right onto Route 162 and continue for another 15 minutes. Follow the signs for Kozan-ji, and you'll find the entrance on your left. There's parking available nearby.

  • Public Transportation

    From Nara Station, take the JR Nara Line to Kyoto Station. Transfer to the JR Sagano Line and take the train towards Saga-Arashiyama. Get off at the Saga-Arashiyama Station. From there, take the bus number 28 towards Umegahata, and get off at the Kozan-ji stop. The temple will be a short walk from the bus stop.

  • Car

    If you are coming from Kyoto, take the Raku Bus #59 from Kyoto Station and get off at the last stop, which is near the Arashiyama area. Then, drive north on Route 162 for about 10 minutes, following the signs to Kozan-ji. The temple will be on your right-hand side.

  • Public Transportation

    From Kyoto Station, take the Hankyu Line towards Arashiyama. After arriving at Arashiyama Station, transfer to the bus #93 or #28 to Umegahata. Disembark at the Kozan-ji stop, and walk for about 5 minutes to reach the temple entrance.
