Getting There

  • Train

    From Nara Station, take the Kintetsu Nara Line towards Osaka Namba Station. The journey takes about 45 minutes. Once you arrive at Osaka Namba Station, follow the signs to the exit. After exiting the station, head towards the Dotonbori area, which is about a 10-minute walk.

  • Bus

    From Nara, take the Nara City Bus or Kintetsu Bus to Osaka Station. Once you arrive at Osaka Station, transfer to the subway and take the Midosuji Line towards Nakamozu. Get off at Namba Station, and from there, it is a short 5-minute walk to Dotonbori.

  • Bicycle

    If you enjoy cycling, you can rent a bicycle in Nara. Follow the signposted bike routes towards Osaka, which will take you to the Yamato River. Follow the river north until you reach Osaka. Once in Osaka, navigate towards Dotonbori, which is well-signposted. The ride will take about 1.5 to 2 hours depending on your pace.

  • Walking

    If you are staying close to Nara Park, you can walk to Dotonbori by first heading to Nara Station. From there, take the Kintetsu Nara Line to Namba Station, and once you arrive, walk towards Dotonbori. It’s approximately a 15-minute walk from Namba Station, and you will see the iconic neon lights as you approach.
