Public Bus
From Nara Station, head to the bus terminal located just outside the station. Look for the Nara Kotsu Bus Line. You will want to take Bus number 2 or 3 towards Kyoto. The bus ride will take approximately 45 minutes. Get off at the 'Ninna-ji-mae' bus stop. From there, you will see signs directing you to Ninna-ji Temple, which is a short 5-minute walk.
Train
From Nara Station, take the JR Yamatoji Line towards Kyoto. Alight at the next stop, which is Kyoto Station (approximately 45 minutes). From Kyoto Station, transfer to the JR Sanin Line and take a train towards Saga-Arashiyama. Get off at the 'Ninna-ji' station. The temple is a short 10-minute walk from the station. Follow the signs to the temple.
Walking
If you are close to the center of Nara, you can enjoy a scenic walk to Ninna-ji Temple. Start at Nara Park and head north until you reach the main road. Turn onto Omuroouchi Street, and continue walking straight for about 4 kilometers. It will take you approximately 50 minutes to walk there, but you'll enjoy beautiful views along the way.
Taxi
You can also take a taxi from anywhere in Nara. Just tell the driver you want to go to Ninna-ji Temple, and they will know the location. The drive will take around 30 minutes, depending on traffic. Be sure to have the address written down: 33 Omuroouchi, Ukyo Ward, Kyoto, 616-8092.
