Public Transport
From Kyoto Station, take Kyoto City Bus number 205 or 206 and get off at the Daitokuji-mae bus stop. The journey takes approximately 35-45 minutes. Alternatively, take the Karasuma Subway Line to Kitaoji Station. From there, it's about a 15-minute walk west to Daitoku-ji Temple. You can also take bus number 101 from Kitaoji Bus Terminal to 'Daitoku-ji Mae'. Kyoto City Bus fare is a flat rate of ¥230 for adults and ¥120 for children within the central area. Subway fares range from ¥220 to ¥360 depending on the distance. A one-day pass for both subway and bus is available for ¥1100 for adults and ¥550 for children.
Walking
From Kitaoji Station on the Karasuma Subway Line, Daitoku-ji Temple is approximately a 15-20 minute walk west. Exit the station and head west, following the main road. The temple complex will be on your left. Look for the large walls surrounding the temple.
Taxi
Taxis are readily available throughout Kyoto. From Kyoto Station, a taxi to Daitoku-ji Temple takes about 10-15 minutes, depending on traffic. The taxi fare will be approximately ¥3,000 - ¥3,700. The starting fare is ¥490 - ¥620 for the first 1.5km, with additional charges per kilometer. Be aware that fares increase by 20% between 10 PM and 5 AM.
