Getting There
Walking
From Osaka Station (JR Line), take the North Central Exit and walk for approximately 10 minutes. Follow the signs for Grand Front Osaka and Yodobashi Camera, proceeding north through the underground walkway. Continue through the walkway, crossing a traffic light between the North and South buildings of Grand Front Osaka. Descend the stairs to the underground walkway, proceed through it, and ascend the stairs to reach the Umeda Sky Building. There are no tolls or parking costs associated with walking.

From Umeda Station (Osaka Metro Midosuji Line), exit from the North Ticket Gate and turn left. Turn right at the pharmacy and head towards Yodobashi Umeda. Pass Yodobashi Umeda and take the escalator. Follow the road to the left, go straight, and exit the building (LINKS UMEDA). Cross the traffic light and walk between the North and South Buildings of Grand Front Osaka. Cross the street and descend the stairs to the underground walkway. Proceed through the walkway and ascend the stairs to reach the Umeda Sky Building. A single subway fare in Osaka typically costs ¥180-330 depending on the distance.

The Umeda Sky Building, also known as New Umeda City, is one of Osaka's most recognizable landmarks. Completed in 1993, this 173-meter-tall structure consists of two 40-story towers connected at the top by the Floating Garden Observatory. Designed by architect Hiroshi Hara, the building was initially envisioned as a complex of four interconnected towers, but economic conditions led to the construction of just two.
The Floating Garden Observatory offers 360-degree panoramic views of Osaka. Visitors can enjoy both indoor and open-air viewing platforms. The observatory is reached by taking an elevator to the 35th floor and then transferring to a glass-enclosed escalator that spans between the two towers. This escalator ride provides a unique and thrilling experience.
In addition to the observatory, the Umeda Sky Building features a variety of attractions. The basement level houses Takimi Koji Gourmet Street, a replica of a 1920s Japanese town with a variety of restaurants. The building also has shops, cafes, and a cinema.
