Discover more about Umeda Sky Building

The Umeda Sky Building, a landmark in Osaka's Kita district, is an architectural icon born from the vision of architect Hiroshi Hara. Completed in 1993, this 173-meter-tall structure comprises two 40-story towers connected by the remarkable Floating Garden Observatory. Originally conceived as a four-tower complex, the economic downturn of the 1980s led to a redesign, resulting in the two-tower structure that stands today. The building's design draws inspiration from the Grande Arche in Paris and emphasizes a 'floating city' concept. Visitors ascend via an elevator to the 35th floor, then transfer to a glass-enclosed escalator that seems to hang in mid-air, offering thrilling views. The Floating Garden Observatory provides 360-degree panoramic views of Osaka's skyline, with an open-air Sky Walk for an immersive experience. Beyond the observatory, the Umeda Sky Building offers various attractions. Descend to the basement to explore Takimi Koji, a retro-themed food alley recreating a 1920s Japanese street, offering a taste of old Osaka. At the base of the towers, discover the Island Garden, a green space providing a tranquil escape from the urban environment. The Umeda Sky Building is more than just a skyscraper; it's a destination blending architectural innovation, stunning views, and cultural experiences.
