Getting There

  • Public Transport

    From JR Sagami Line's Harataima Station, take a Kanachu bus for 5 minutes to the Sagamihara Koen-mae bus stop, then walk a short distance. Bus fare is approximately ¥200-300. Alternatively, take a bus from Sagamiono Station's North Exit to the park. At bus stop No. 3, take the bus bound for the Women's College of Arts. The traveling time is about 17 minutes. Get off at the General Gymnasium bus stop. You can also take a bus from Sagamihara Station's South Exit. At the bus stop No. 2, take the bus bound for Sobudai-mae Station. The traveling time is approximately 30 minutes. Get off at the General Gymnasium bus stop.

    From Harataima Station on the JR Sagami Line, the park is approximately a 20-minute walk. Follow the signs and enjoy the local scenery.

    Sagamihara Park has parking available. Parking is free on weekdays. On weekends and holidays, parking fees apply. Be aware that parking may be limited during peak seasons and special events. The Central Parking is open from 6:00 am to 8:00 pm.

Sagamihara Park is a 26-hectare (64-acre) park where visitors can enjoy seasonal flowers and greenery throughout the year. The park boasts diverse areas, including Minazuki-en, where approximately 20,000 irises of around 120 varieties bloom in June. The Fountain Square features an elegant French-style garden surrounded by towering metasequoia trees. A prominent feature is the Sakata Seed Greenhouse, one of the largest in the prefecture. Inside, visitors can explore a tropical garden filled with vibrant flowers like bougainvillea and hibiscus, as well as a cactus garden displaying various succulent plants. The greenhouse also offers the Green Theater, which screens nature-themed videos, and an observation room overlooking the fountain square. Note that entry to the Tropical Garden and Cactus Garden in the Sakata Seed Greenhouse costs 100 yen for adults. The expansive 27,000㎡ lawn area is a popular spot for family picnics on weekends. Other attractions include the Komorebi no Michi, a bird-watching trail, and the Seseragi-no-en area, where visitors can enjoy playing in the water. Sagamihara Park offers something for all ages. Sagamihara Park has been significant since its establishment as a city in 1954. Over the decades, it has transitioned from a quiet agricultural base to a bustling urban center.
