Bizan Ropeway Observatory Travel Guide

The Bizan Ropeway Observatory sits atop Mt. Bizan, a 290-meter-high mountain that serves as a prominent symbol of Tokushima City. The mountain's name, meaning "eyebrow," comes from its shape when viewed from afar. A ride on the Bizan Ropeway whisks you to the summit in just six minutes, delivering you to an observatory with breathtaking views.From the summit, visitors can enjoy a panoramic vista encompassing the cityscape of Tokushima, the winding Yoshino River, and the Onaruto Bridge. On clear days, the view extends to Awaji Island and the Kii Peninsula across the water. At night, the mountain transforms into one of Shikoku's best night view spots, with the city lights creating a glittering spectacle.Bizan Park at the peak offers landscaped gardens, flower displays, and walking trails to explore. Other features include the Mayuge-kyo, an LED display showcasing Tokushima's connection to the LED industry, and a Burmese pagoda, a monument honoring fallen soldiers from World War II. The summit also has a free observation rest house.
