The Chitosetsuru Sake Museum, located next to the Chitosetsuru Brewery, offers a glimpse into Sapporo's sake brewing heritage. Established in 1872 as Shibata Shuzoten, it was the first sake brewery in Sapporo. In 1928, it became Nippon Seishu K.K. and adopted the brand name "Chitosetsuru". The museum showcases the history of sake production with displays of traditional tools, old bottles and labels, and posters. Visitors can sample the fresh groundwater used in the sake-making process, sourced from the Jozankei area. The museum also offers sake tastings, including seasonal and regional specialties, and a shop to purchase exclusive sake. For those who prefer non-alcoholic options, there's sake kasu ice cream and other sweets. Located a little east of downtown Sapporo near the Toyohira River, the museum provides a relaxed atmosphere to learn about sake brewing.
