Driving
From Tomakomai city center, take Route 36 towards Lake Shikotsu. Follow the signs for Mount Tarumae. The drive takes approximately 30-40 minutes. Parking is available at the trailhead. Parking fee is around ¥500 per day.
Public Transport
Take a bus from Tomakomai Station to the Lake Shikotsu area. From there, you can take a taxi to the Mount Tarumae trailhead. Bus fare is approximately ¥800, and a taxi ride from Lake Shikotsu to the trailhead will cost around ¥2000-¥3000.
