Discover more about Sapporo Dome Tenbodai

The Sapporo Dome Tenbodai is a unique observation deck located within the Sapporo Dome, a multi-purpose stadium in Sapporo, Hokkaido. Opened in 2001, the Sapporo Dome is known for its innovative design, most notably its retractable natural grass pitch used for soccer games. The stadium is home to the Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo football team and formerly the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters baseball team. The Tenbodai, rising approximately 53 meters above the ground, offers visitors a panoramic view of Sapporo and the surrounding mountains. A 60-meter escalator transports visitors to the top. From this vantage point, one can appreciate the stadium's architecture and the cityscape. The observation deck also features exhibits related to the Sapporo Dome, including player memorabilia. The Sapporo Dome has hosted various major events, including the 2002 FIFA World Cup, the 2017 Asian Winter Games, and the 2019 Rugby World Cup. It also served as a football venue for the 2020 Summer Olympics. The stadium's ability to transform from a baseball field to a soccer pitch using a 'hovering soccer stage' is a marvel of engineering. This system allows the natural grass soccer pitch to be rolled into and out of the stadium as needed. Beyond sporting events, the Sapporo Dome also hosts large-scale concerts and exhibitions. Around the grounds, visitors can find 25 sculptures by various artists. Inside the dome, there is a children's play area, restaurants, and souvenir shops.
