Discover more about Sea Fountain

The Sea Fountain is a central feature of Moerenuma Park, a unique art park conceived by Japanese-American sculptor Isamu Noguchi. Noguchi envisioned the entire park as a single sculpture, and the Sea Fountain exemplifies this concept as a 'sculpture of water'. Inspired by a similar fountain in Miami's Bayfront Park, the Sea Fountain in Moerenuma Park can reach a height of 25 meters during its dynamic water displays. The fountain shows, which run from late April to mid-October, are a major draw for visitors. The shows vary in length, typically lasting either 15 or 40 minutes, and there are usually 2-4 shows per day. The powerful jets of water create a spectacle that harmonizes with the park's geometric landscape, providing a refreshing and artistic experience. The fountain is positioned to allow visitors to enjoy the dazzling water and, at times, illuminated displays.Moerenuma Park itself is a testament to environmental renewal, built on a former waste disposal site. Noguchi's design transformed this area into a green space with various attractions, including Mount Moere, the Glass Pyramid (Hidamari), and creative playgrounds. The Sea Fountain adds to the park's appeal, offering a blend of art and recreation for all ages.
