From JR Nobeoka Station, take the Miyazaki Kotsu Bus to Takachiho Bus Center (approx. 1 hour 30 minutes). Note that the expressway toll from Fukuoka to Takachiho is approximately ¥2,000.

Perched 513 meters above sea level in Takachiho, Miyazaki Prefecture, the Kunimigaoka Viewing Platform provides breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. Legend states that Takeiwatatsu-no-mikoto, grandson of Emperor Jinmu, surveyed the country from this very spot, hence the name 'Kunimigaoka' (Country-Viewing Hill).

However, Kunimigaoka is most famous for its 'sea of clouds' (Unkai), a breathtaking phenomenon occurring on clear, calm mornings from mid-September to late November. The Takachiho Basin becomes enveloped in a sea of clouds, creating a surreal and unforgettable vista.
