    From JR Kagoshima Chuo Station, take the east exit and turn left. Cross the Takami Bridge over the Kotsuki River, keeping the Kagoshima City Tram tracks in sight. Turn right in front of the bronze statue of Toshimichi Okubo. The museum is a short walk from there. No cost for walking.

    From Kagoshima Chuo Station, take the city tram towards Kagoshima Station and get off at Takamibaba Station. The museum is a 3-minute walk from the tram stop. Alternatively, take the Kagoshima City View bus and get off at the Ishin Furusato-kan (Tourism Exchange Center) stop, right in front of the museum. The tram fare is ¥160 per ride. A one-day travel pass, valid on trams and city buses, costs ¥600 for adults.
