Highlight of Our 3 Weeks in Japan!

Exceptional! We feel fortunate to have had Mai Kuwazuru as our guide in Kagoshima. She speaks English fluently and understands it equally as well. As a result, our entire afternoon was filled with conversation, where we learned about Mai, her family, life in Japan, and her beautiful city. She expertly answered all our many questions. After spending 3 weeks in Japan and taking many guided tours, Mai stood head and shoulders above all other tour guides that we encountered. Not only was communicating with her effortless, she was organized, well prepared, adaptable, punctual, and relaxed. While we had a tight timeline and definite priorities, Mai handled the logistics like a seasoned professional. She easily adapted to our early arrival at the last minute and was ready with alternate options if the weather didn't cooperate. She listened to our priorities, and made sure we fulfilled each one to our satisfaction, before moving on to the next one. At the same time, she managed our timing perfectly. Mai took care of all the details so well, we just spent a very relaxed afternoon enjoying Sakurajima. Thank you so much Mai! You and Kagoshima have become favorites of our family❣️

Great tour in Sakurajima

Makoto was a super guide. Very knowledgeable, but also able to explain things in layman's terms. It was fascinating to hear his tales of life on Sakurajima. The tour was a mix of indoors at the visitor centre and outdoors at the lava field. Makoto brought it all to life with a range of visual aids. Not part of the tour, but we enjoyed the hot springs foot bath and various wildlife in the area, particularly the dolphins that made an appearance just offshore from the visitor centre. Thoroughly recommended!
