From Kagoshima City, take the tram to Sakurajima Ferry Terminal; the tram ride costs around ¥200. Take the Sakurajima Ferry to Sakurajima Island, which operates 24/7 with frequent departures; the ferry costs ¥250 one way for passengers. Once on Sakurajima, the Sakurajima Island View Bus makes a loop around the island and stops at Yunohira Observatory. A one-day pass for the bus costs ¥500.

From Kagoshima City, drive to the Sakurajima Ferry Terminal and take the ferry to Sakurajima Island; the ferry operates 24/7. The ferry cost is ¥1700 one way for cars less than 4 meters long. From Sakurajima Port, drive towards Yunohira Observatory, following the signs; the drive takes approximately 20 minutes. Parking is available near the observatory.
