If you are driving, start by heading southeast on Route 3 (Kagoshima Main Route) from the center of Satsuma. Continue on Route 3 for approximately 10 km until you reach the Sakurajima area. Look for the signs directing you towards Sakurajima Ferry Terminal. Once you arrive at the ferry terminal, take the ferry to Sakurajima Island. After disembarking, drive along the coast on Route 215. Keep an eye out for signs indicating the Tsukiyomi Shrine. The First Torii Gate is located at 1722-8 Sakurajimayokoyamacho. There is parking available nearby.

To reach the Tsukiyomi Shrine First Torii Gate via public transportation, start at the Satsuma Station. Take the Kagoshima City tram towards the Sakurajima Ferry Terminal. This ride will take you approximately 30 minutes. Once you arrive at the ferry terminal, board the ferry to Sakurajima Island. The ferry ride lasts about 10 minutes. After arriving on the island, you can take a local bus (Bus No. 9) that goes towards Sakurajima Visitor Center. Get off at the stop for Tsukiyomi Shrine, which is a short walk from the First Torii Gate at 1722-8 Sakurajimayokoyamacho.
