Getting there

Car

If you're driving from central Shimotsuke, take Route 50 heading north toward Ashikaga. After approximately 20 minutes, you will reach Ashikaga City. Continue on Route 50 and follow the signs for Banna-ji. Turn left onto Ietomicho, and Banna-ji will be on your right at 2220 Ietomicho. There is free parking available on-site.

Public Transportation - Train

From Shimotsuke, take the JR Ryomo Line from Shimotsuke-Tachikawa Station to Ashikaga Station. The journey takes about 30 minutes. Once you arrive at Ashikaga Station, exit the station and head towards the bus terminal. Take the Ashikaga City Bus (bound for Banna-ji) and get off at the Banna-ji stop. The bus ride takes around 15 minutes. Banna-ji will be a short walk from the bus stop.

Public Transportation - Bus

If you prefer taking a bus directly from Shimotsuke, look for the local bus service that connects Shimotsuke with Ashikaga. Check the local schedules for specific routes and times. Once you reach Ashikaga, you can transfer to the Ashikaga City Bus to reach Banna-ji. The total travel time may vary, so plan for at least an hour. Make sure to have some change ready for the bus fare, which typically costs around 300 JPY.
