Getting There

  • Car

    From Shimotsuke, take National Route 121 heading north. Continue for about 30 km until you reach Nikko. In Nikko, follow the signs for Route 1 (Nikko Utsunomiya Road) and take the exit toward Chuzenji Onsen. Drive for approximately 20 km until you reach the parking area near Senjōgahara Marshland. Note that parking fees may apply, so be prepared to pay around 500 yen.

  • Public Transportation

    From Shimotsuke Station, take the JR Nikko Line to Nikko Station. The train ride takes about 20 minutes. Once at Nikko Station, transfer to the Tobu bus bound for Chuzenji Onsen. The bus ride takes approximately 30-40 minutes. Get off at the Senjōgahara stop. Ensure you check the bus schedule beforehand, as buses may not run very frequently.

  • Walking from Bus Station

    Once you arrive at the Senjōgahara bus stop, you will be just a short walk from the marshland area. Follow the signs leading to Senjōgahara Marshland, which is about a 10-minute walk. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes as the path can be uneven.
