If you are driving, start from central Shimotsuke and head towards Route 4. Follow Route 4 north for about 10 kilometers until you reach the junction with Route 119. Take the exit onto Route 119, continuing on this road for approximately another 15 kilometers. You will then reach Nikko. Once in Nikko, follow the signs directing you to Yashamon Gate, located at 2303 Sannai, Nikko, Tochigi 321-1431. There is parking available nearby.
Public Transportation
To reach Yashamon Gate using public transportation, start at Shimotsuke Station. Take the JR Utsunomiya Line train towards Utsunomiya Station. At Utsunomiya Station, transfer to the Tobu Nikko Line and take the train heading to Tobu Nikko Station. Once you arrive at Tobu Nikko Station, exit the station and walk towards the bus terminal located nearby. Board the bus heading to 'Yashamon Gate' or 'Nikko Toshogu Shrine.' The bus ride will take approximately 15 minutes. Get off at the stop closest to Yashamon Gate, then follow the signs to the entrance, which is just a short walk away.
