Nishinomaru Garden, a part of the expansive Osaka Castle Park, provides a peaceful retreat from the bustling city. Established in 1965, the 6.5-hectare (16-acre) garden is known for its seasonal beauty and historical connections. The garden occupies a site that was once the residence of Kita no Mandokoro, wife of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, the feudal lord who initiated the unification of Japan. The garden features a large lawn, walking paths, and about 600 cherry trees, mainly Somei Yoshino, making it a popular spot for hanami (cherry blossom viewing) in the spring. During peak season, the garden hosts night events with illuminations. In late winter and early spring, visitors can admire the plum blossoms in the garden's plum grove, which contains around 1,200 plum trees of various types. The garden also offers views of Osaka Castle's tower and stone walls. In the northeast corner of the Nishinomaru Garden, you can find the teahouse called “Hoshoan”.
