Discover more about Nihondaira Yume Terrace

Nihondaira Yume Terrace, opened in 2018, stands proudly atop Nihondaira, a 307-meter-high hill in Shizuoka, once recognized as Japan's top tourist destination. Designed by Kengo Kuma & Associates, also known for the New National Stadium in Tokyo, this architectural gem blends seamlessly with the natural surroundings, primarily using wood sourced from Shizuoka Prefecture. The terrace offers more than just a view; it's an immersive experience. Inside, the first floor features an exhibition area detailing the history and culture of Nihondaira, using interactive displays and projection mapping. Ascend to the second floor, and you'll find a cozy lounge where you can savor local teas and sweets while still enjoying the scenery. The third floor boasts a full-circle observation deck with panoramic windows, ensuring spectacular views in all directions, even on days when Mount Fuji is hidden by clouds, thanks to a real-time monitor. The outdoor observation corridor is open 24/7, offering unbeatable 360-degree views and a popular spot for watching the city lights glitter after sunset. Nihondaira itself has historical significance, named after Yamato Takeru no Mikoto, a legendary figure who surveyed the land from this vantage point.
