The Institute for Nature Study (国立科学博物館附属自然教育園) is a unique sanctuary in Tokyo's Minato Ward, offering a refreshing escape from the city's hustle and bustle. This 20-hectare nature reserve, a designated Natural Monument and National Historic Site, protects the pre-modern natural habitats of the Tokyo area.Originally the site of a feudal lord's residence and later an Imperial estate, the area was transformed into a natural education park in 1949.
