From Hana-Koganei Station on the Seibu Shinjuku Line, take the Hana Bus [No. 4 North Route] bound for Tanashi Station and get off at the 'Tamarokuto Kagakukan' bus stop, which is a short walk from the Science Center. A single bus fare is approximately ¥220.

The Tamarokuto Science Center, located in Nishitokyo, is a hands-on science museum designed to engage visitors of all ages. The museum is run by the five cities of Kodaira, Higashimurayama, Kiyose, Higashikurume, and Nishi-Tokyo. The centerpiece of the museum is the planetarium, known as the 'Science Egg'. Equipped with the GOTO CHIRON II projector, it displays approximately 140 million stars, offering a realistic and immersive starry sky experience. The planetarium dome is one of the largest in the world, with a diameter of 27.5 meters. Live commentary by expert staff members accompanies the shows, which change themes roughly every two months. English-language presentations are available, but it's best to check the schedule in advance.In addition to the planetarium, the museum features five exhibition halls, each dedicated to a different area of science: Meet the Science, Body & Senses, System & Mechanism, Life & Environment, and Geoscience. These halls contain approximately 100 interactive exhibits designed to make learning fun and engaging. Visitors can touch, explore, and experiment with the exhibits to deepen their understanding of scientific concepts.The museum also offers various labs where visitors can participate in workshops and experiments. A cafe offers meals made with local vegetables, as well as sweets. There's also a rest area where visitors can bring their own food, making it an ideal destination for a family outing.
