Getting There

  • Car

    If you're driving from Sendai, take the Sanriku Expressway (E45) towards Matsushima. The journey takes about 30 minutes. Follow the signs for Matsushima and exit at Matsushima IC. Once you exit, continue on Route 45 for a few minutes until you reach the Matsushima Sightseeing Cruise terminal, located at 〒981-0213 Miyagi, Miyagi District, Matsushima, Chonai−85. Parking is available at the terminal, and it may incur a fee, so be prepared with cash.

  • Train

    From Sendai Station, take the Senseki Line towards Matsushima Kaigan Station. The train ride takes approximately 40 minutes. After arriving at Matsushima Kaigan Station, exit the station and head towards the waterfront area. Follow the signs for Matsushima Sightseeing Cruise, which is about a 10-minute walk from the station. Note that train tickets from Sendai to Matsushima Kaigan cost around 600 yen.

  • Bus

    If you prefer to take a bus, from Sendai Station, you can catch a bus bound for Matsushima. The bus journey takes about 50 minutes. Buses leave regularly from the station. Make sure to check the schedule as it may vary throughout the day. The bus will drop you off near the Matsushima Sightseeing Cruise terminal. The ticket price is approximately 800 yen.
