The beach was considered sacred by the Minamoto clan, with Shogun Minamoto no Yoritomo purifying himself here before visiting shrines.
Today, Yuigahama Beach is a popular summer retreat, drawing visitors with its gentle waves and vibrant atmosphere. Getting There
Walking
From Kamakura Station, Yuigahama Beach is approximately a 15-minute walk. Exit the station and follow the road leading towards the sea. You'll pass through the main street with shops and restaurants. Continue straight, and you'll soon reach the beach.
Public Transport
From Kamakura Station, take the Enoden Line to Yuigahama Station. The ride is just a few minutes. From Yuigahama Station, it's a short 5-minute walk to the beach. The Enoden Line fare from Kamakura to Yuigahama is around 310 yen. Alternatively, take a bus from Kamakura Station East Exit towards Daibutsu and get off at the Yuigahama stop. The Yoritomo Kamakura Pass (570 yen) offers unlimited use of the Enoden train and certain buses in the area.
Taxi
A taxi from Kamakura Station to Yuigahama Beach takes approximately 4 minutes. The estimated fare is between 2200 and 2700 yen. Taxis are readily available at the station's taxi stand.
Driving
If driving from Tokyo, take the Metropolitan Expressway and continue onto the Yokohama-Yokosuka Road. Follow the signs to Kamakura. From the Kamakura exit, it's a short drive to Yuigahama Beach. Parking is available near the beach, including Yuigahama Underground Parking, which costs 520 yen per hour during peak season (July-August). Other nearby parking lots are also available.
