Discover more about Shibamata Park

Shibamata Park, located southeast of Shibamata Taishakuten Temple, is a comprehensive park integrating several attractions and offering a serene escape in Tokyo's Katsushika ward. The park combines meticulously maintained Japanese gardens with open recreational space, providing a blend of cultural and natural experiences. The park integrates sites such as the Katsushika Shibamata Tora-san Museum, where visitors can experience the world of the film series “Otoko wa Tsurai yo (It's Tough Being a Man),” the Yamada Yoji Museum, dedicated to the film director, and Yamamoto-tei, a former merchant's residence with an elegant Japanese garden. The park also functions as a levee to prevent natural disasters. Visitors can enjoy seasonal flowers, with cherry blossoms in late March through early April and azaleas in early to mid-May. The levee offers stunning views of the Edo River and greenery. In one corner of the grassy clearing along the riverbank, there is a Japanese iris field. Cars are prohibited along the Edogawa Cycling Road, but bicycle rentals are available on weekends and national holidays on the 2nd floor of Building B of the Tourism and Culture Center adjacent to the Katsushika Shibamata Tora-san Museum.
