Walking
From Ueno Station (Park Exit), walk straight into Ueno Park. Follow the path south, passing the fountain and proceeding towards Shinobazu Pond. The temple is located on an island in the pond and is accessible via walkways. The walk is approximately 10-15 minutes and is free.
Public Transport
Take the JR Yamanote Line, Tokyo Metro Ginza Line, or Hibiya Line to Ueno Station. From Ueno Station, follow the signs to the Park Exit. Upon exiting, you will be directly across from Ueno Park. Walk south towards Shinobazu Pond; the temple is on an island in the pond. Subway fare from Tokyo Station to Ueno is approximately ¥180-¥210. JR Line fare from Tokyo Station to Ueno is approximately ¥160.
Taxi
Take a taxi from anywhere in Tokyo to Ueno Park. Inform the driver you wish to go to Shinobazu Pond (Shinobazu no ike). The temple is located in the pond. A taxi from Tokyo Station to Ueno Park will cost approximately ¥2,700-¥3,300 and take about 6 minutes. A 5km taxi ride in Ueno Park costs about 2620 JPY.
