Public Transport
The most convenient way to reach Tama Zoological Park is by train. Take the Keio Line from Shinjuku Station to Takahatafudo Station, then transfer to the Keio Dobutsuen Line to Tama-Dobutskoen Station. Alternatively, take the Tama Monorail from Tachikawa Station to Tama-Dobutskoen Station. The zoo is a short walk from the station. A single fare from Shinjuku to Tama-Dobutskoen via Keio Line costs approximately ¥540 for adults. From Tachikawa via Monorail, the fare is about ¥950 for adults.
Taxi
Taxis are available from Hino Station to Tama Zoological Park, a distance of approximately 4 km. The ride takes about 7 minutes. Taxi fares in Tokyo start around ¥500-¥750 for the first 1.052 kilometers, with an additional ¥90-¥100 for each additional 200-400 meters. A trip from Hino Station to the zoo will likely cost between ¥2100 and ¥2600.
Driving
If driving, be aware that Tama Zoological Park does not have its own parking lot. However, there are toll parking lots in front of the zoo. Parking fees vary, but expect to pay around ¥500 for a few hours. It is advisable to use public transport on weekends and holidays due to limited parking.
